The fragrance from this Hunapu is sweet, chocolatey, and is flavorfully potent from light roast and beyond. Images of candied nuts and malted chocolate balls come to mind when smelling the wet aroma, leading into a balanced brew. Medium roasts are balanced bittersweet, with semi-sweet chocolate chips and brown sugar notes blossoming as the cup cools down to a drinking temperature. The acidity level is quietly present and adds apple-like crispness at medium roast level, while much more muted at dark roast. The finish is marked by cocoa and nut tones, cultivating a flavor of dark chocolate brownie with walnuts. This big-bodied Guatemala makes an amazing espresso, while working well for milk drinks too. Guatemala Antigua Hunapu is one of my most versatile coffees by far!
